While we’re all stuck in the frozen tundra of this winter, we let our minds wander to upcoming vacation days of lying in the sun, hitting the slopes or posting up with our one true love, Netflix, on the couch. Whatever spring break will hold, the week definitely looks like brighter days in our daydreams. This Fashionista brought that brightness to the wintry cross campus trudge in the form of a brilliant pop of pink.
This Fashionista’s outfit had me thinking of “modern-day Barbie” in her all-black ensemble and the hint of pink with the sweater. Chunky knits are a major trend from the fall 2014 runway show, and this Fashionista is sporting just that. I learned that the pink pullover is in fact a vintage men’s Ralph Lauren, which just adds to its rad factor. Some of the best wardrobe pieces are found by literally borrowing from the boys.
The vibrant rosy sweater had me thinking of sunshine filled days. It really stands out against the black of the other ensemble pieces. Shying away from The North Face and UGGs conformity, this Fashionista opted instead for a detailed and structured down coat that keeps her cozy and stylish. The outerwear, paired with classic Frye riding boots, add up to a splendid daytime outfit. It is perhaps this Fashionista’s jewelry with the pink pullover that had me making the Barbie girl connection a la Moschino’s spring/summer 2015 collection. Her shiny studs and gold bracelets, especially the one inscribed with “kind of amazing,” are actually just that.
How To: Put in a pop of the rosy hue with a chunky knit or even borrow from the boys. Add in a little bling, and you’ll be all set once spring break finally arrives, feeling perfectly pretty in pink—just like Andie Walsh.
