ALL IN THE DETAILS: Plum's The Word

“Do you remember….September?” Just like Earth, Wind and Fire, I also remember September, which seems like it was forever ago. September might be my favorite and least favorite month all rolled into one. It’s my favorite because I can wear all of my summer and fall clothing in the same month. It’s my least favorite because there will be days where it’s too hot for fall clothing and too cold for summer clothing. It’s sometimes difficult to dress for this time of the year, but I usually find a way. This Fashionista’s outfit is the perfect September outfit; it combines the basics of summer with the details of fall. When I saw this Fashionista, I fell in love with her ensemble and it’s balance between summer and fall fashion.

A main staple of fall fashion is the color scheme. The color scheme of fall is usually darker and richer than other seasons. There are also a lot of royal colors present in fall fashion. That is one detail that this Fashionista paid attention to. She centered her outfit around a loose fitting plum sweater. The sweater was made out of a thinner material so it was appropriate for the warmer weather, but still gave off that cozy fall feeling. It was a pretty feminine piece, which is why I liked that she paired it with a pair of distressed jeans. One of my favorite trends is pairing distressed jeans with more feminine pieces. I just think it looks really cool and makes you look effortlessly put together. This Fashionista added some cognac sandals, which took the outfit to another level. She finally finished off the outfit with a statement necklace and a round pair of sunglasses.

I loved this Fashionista’s outfit because it really embodied the feeling of September. It was cozy enough for fall, yet it also had the carefree feeling of summer. It’s a great look for back to school, or for trying to get that last bit of wear out of your summer wardrobe. Hopefully in an outfit like this, you’ll be “dancing in September” too!

How To: Start off with a loose fitting sweater in a deep, rich color. Add some light wash, distressed jeans. Pair with cognac sandals. Finish the look off with a long, statement necklace and rounded sunglasses.
