ALL IN THE DETAILS: Minimalist

March 18th, 2015 at 2:00am

The transition from winter to spring can bring about some very tough style decisions for Fashionista/os. The harsh dark colors may get pushed aside as we anticipate the seasonal change. However, it is still too cold to completely forget about those coats and scarves!

This Fashionista really grasped what I love about this time of year. She completely nailed a chic minimalist look by pairing her camel coat with a pair of black skinnies, a mildly chunky cream sweater, and black booties. She draped a rich plaid scarf around her neck. This is my personal favorite touch because it makes her look outfit look so effortless, yet so put together. Since this Fashionista was headed to class she couldn’t forget a chic yet functional bag to carry her necessities. She carried an amazing leather tote! This item is becoming very fashionable and on-trend thanks to Mansur Gavriel. Overall, what stood out to me most what her scarf and coat combination. This look works perfectly on her body frame and would also look amazing on lots of different body types.

I have mentioned before that I am a tad obsessed with beauty. So when I saw this Fashionista’s outfit and makeup I had to stop her. I love how she rocked a middle part with wavy hair. Her makeup was very subtle with a pop of color on the lips. This truly added to her minimalist vibe and made the entire look cohesive.

How To: Throw on your favorite coat with a patterned scarf to master this look. Do not forget the effortless feel by going light on your makeup with a pop of color either on yours lips or cheeks. Simplicity is key when it comes to a look like this!

Hi everyone! I'm Melanie Witzberger from Kent State University, but you can call me Mel. I am in my third year of college, however I'm graduating this August and am so excited about it! I am currently studying Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Marketing. I can not imagine studying anything other than Fashion, I absolutely love everything about it! This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I can not wait to see what this semester holds. The future is bright ( I hope literally), as I hope to move to California sometime after graduation. I would love to be a Stylist, Visual Merchandiser, or Buyer in the future. I also have a deep passion for all things dealing with social media and would love have a career that involves working with it!
