ALL IN THE DETAILS: Make Some Noise

With each day that passes this winter season, it feels as if we continue to lose more and more items within our wardrobe, but this doesn’t need to be the case. Not ready to give up your favorite autumn dress? You don’t have to with this trick! Styling your dress over a turtleneck or any long sleeve top will instantly transform it to be cold weather friendly. You can even go the extra mile by layering it over a pair of skinny jeans. The same goes for heels—winterize them. Pull on a pair of tights or stylish socks and you are all set.

When paying attention to layering, colors and patterns are important to keep in mind. There are two routes you can go with this. The first option it to let all your other colors relate and then provide a pop of color or a pattern in the turtleneck you place underneath (a mix of charcoal grays paired with a bright red long sleeve). The second option is to keep all your colors close and provide a different contrast piece that doesn’t directly relate to your layers.

Our Fashionista decided to work with the latter option. Her shoes, tights, dress and ribbed layering piece all stay within the neutral realm. Due to this, her contrast piece became her purse. Especially in the winter, you want to create contrast, create some noise. Your purse can be color-blocked or show intricate details. But you don’t have to stop at colors, play with size, too! This Fashionista decided to go with the more minimal snap bag but working with a shoulder or hobo bag would have still provided a similar impact. Throughout the next few months, continue to play with winterizing your items and adding some good noise to your look. You want your outfit to shout “I am a Fashionista!”
