ALL IN THE DETAILS: Daring in Denim

As we transition from summer to fall, I usually find myself struggling to find the perfect outfit where I’m not freezing in the morning but not sweating off layers by midday either. In Eugene, the weather can be unpredictable and you have to be prepared at all times. I usually sport a good pair of leggings and a tank top and call it a day. But this Fashionista decided to rock the classic denim on denim outfit to look chic but also stay warm as winter is coming.

This Fashionista is wearing a light wash denim jacket paired with a white tank top to add neutrality to the blue tones in her outfit. She then paired her denim jacket with dark wash high-waisted denim shorts from American Apparel. The combination of light to dark is a perfection combination when wanting to dabble in the double denim look. She paired this denim look with black sandals to keep the outfit simple and summer friendly. Moving on to her accessories, she has a dainty heart necklace paired with blue studded starfish earrings to add to the blue tones. Nothing says summer quite like little starfish. The rose gold buttons on the jean jacket help to accentuate the little metals on the rest of her outfit. Finally, a girl is nothing without the right handbag and her navy-colored oversized tote from Coach is the perfect addition to this outfit or any for that matter. As a student, an oversized tote is great when you’re running late to class and can shove all your school supplies into it while still looking fabulous. Her outfit is a great medium to get through this odd transitional weather in Oregon without the need to add or take off too many layers as the temperature changes throughout the day.

So how to achieve this look? If you want to pull of this look, you can totally do it! Just remember to wear different tones of denim otherwise you’ll end up looking like Britney and Justin at the VMAs circa 2001. You don’t have to stick to the typical blue denim either! It can be white, black or whatever you’re feeling. Just remember to do you. Pair your denim with neutrals to keep the entire outfit balanced. If you want to go with a sporty denim look, I would pair your outfit with some classic black and white Vans Sk8-Hi’s or something similar. If you want a more done up look for brunch, denim jeans with brown leather booties paired with light was denim jacket and a white fringe top will have everyone envying your closet. Add little pieces of metal be it gold or silver, and your outfit is finished! Denim on denim has never looked better.
