ALL IN THE DETAILS: Creepy Crawlies

February 14th, 2017 at 2:07am

Walking around campus, it’s easy to get into a zone and not notice anyone around you, especially when the temperatures are below freezing and all you want to do is climb back into bed. Yet sometimes, when I actually stop and look around, the details of people’s outfits stand out and separate them from the rest. That’s exactly what happened with this month’s Fashionista.

I first spotted this Fashionista because I admired her oversize gray coat, a piece that has been popular amongst other Fashionistas/os in these winter months. However, when I got closer, I noticed she was wearing a large gold ear crawler. I’m a huge fan of gold jewelry. It really goes with every color you’re wearing and takes the look up a notch. That being said, amongst all the gold jewelry I already have, I don’t own an earring quite like this Fashionista’s. This crawler added a noticeable pop to an otherwise neutral-toned outfit on this gloomy winter day, and I love it! Although I think it would be perfect for a nice night out, I like how this Fashionista paired it with a casual outfit to take her everyday class look up a notch.

While bringing out her personality through her jewelry, this Fashionista kept the rest of her look neutral and casual in her all black outfit. I too wear all black most days, and although in middle school it was seen as “emo,” I actually think it makes casual outfits look chicer, especially when paired with the right accessories.

Beyond the earrings, this Fashionista added a black belt with metal details and topped off the look with heeled, patent leather black boots. I cannot tell you how much I love these boots! They add a little extra edge to her look and can easily be taken from day to night. I definitely think I’ll invest in a pair, too. The heel on them isn’t too high and they are not only cute but sturdy enough to weather the winter storms.

Take a note from this Fashionista and pair an ear crawler with your latest look, adding a little sparkle during these dreary winter months!
