ALL IN THE DETAILS: Bringing Boho To The East Coast

Being bicoastal, I have always pictured the boho trend in California. The Cali atmosphere oozes the laid back hippie vibe that boho has always been associated with. This Fashionista proved me wrong and showed me that boho can extend not only out of state, but out of season.

With spring a close three days away (can you believe it?), it’s natural to start freaking out about how to prepare your wardrobe. I mean, isn’t that the point of spring cleaning? This outfit is all about learning how to rock the transitional period.

This Fashionista’s outfit has a central spring piece: the light, flowy day dress. To supplement the outfit for the transitional seasonal period, she paired it with patterned knee socks. To finish, she layered the outfit with a “mostly for winter” dusted gray jacket with a detailed back. Coats may be on their way out, but layering will always be in season.

She is a perfect example of the winter essentials to keep with you and those spring gems you need to take back out of the closet ASAP. Often the most difficult time because we are in chaos from cleaning out, storing and rearranging, this is the key in avoiding a major fashion breakdown. This Fashionista’s knee socks are the focal point of the outfit. Knee socks are a winter staple. They are seen over tights and leggings since it is too cold to wear them on their own. This Fashionista took a winter staple (i.e. the knee sock) and wore it bare, which transformed it into a transitional piece. So as you continue with your spring cleaning, take a second look at some of your winter pieces and ask yourself if they can be worn in the warmer weather.

How To: Do you have a pair of knee socks in your closet that you are looking to transition? Great! Take out a spring dress, layer it up with a cute jacket, throw on those knee socks and you are good to go!
