ALL IN THE DETAILS: Belts on Belts on Belts

Although belts are not given much credit, they are truly a girl’s best friend. Belts are very versatile; they can be worn to hold those loose pants up, as an added accessory or to cinch your shirt in at the waist. Loose blouses and dresses are darling but may not be all that flattering. When clothes do not hit you in the correct places, the shirt or whatever it may be could make you look a little broader or larger than you actually are.

This is where the belt comes into play. For the dresses that have no shape to them, put a belt on and it will be the most flattering look. The oversized cardigans that you love to wear with a baggy shirt underneath can appear sloppy so throw on a belt around you waist in order to tie the outfit together.

Thicker belts tend to work better than slim belts when cinching the waist. This is because the thicker belt is able to pull more of the shirt, cardigan, dress or whatever you choose closer to your body. The bottom of the piece of clothing then flares out which creates a curvy appearance.

This Fashionista decided that the cardigan and T-shirt gave her no shape whatsoever, so she added the belt to accentuate her small waist. By her putting the belt around her waist, she created the illusion that her torso is longer than it actually is. Instead of looking like a box, she looks like she has a shape to her body. She also added a few pieces of jewelry and the riding boots to complete the outfit. This Fashionista is ready to go to class then head to the local coffee shop to meet up with some friends!

How To: Throw on all of those layers in order to stay warm. Keep your amazing womanly shape by putting on a chunky belt to accentuate your waist. Add a pair of boots, jewelry and an infinity scarf to take the outfit from a day full of classes to an evening with friends.
