An Airplane-Friendly Makeup Look for Your Next Adventure

When getting ready for a flight, most of us gravitate towards what is most comfortable. A pair of leggings, your favorite oversize T-shirt, and some running shoes and you’re out the door; makeup is the last thing on your mind. In general, it seems like stepping onto a flight with a full face of makeup on is frowned upon. Recently, my skin and I have been going through a little bit of a rough patch. I’m breaking out more than ever, and I don’t feel as confident without makeup on. So, when it was time for my flight to New York City, having to go without makeup was kind of my worst nightmare. For those of you who can relate, try this airplane-friendly makeup look to look fresh-faced for your next flight!

1—Moisturizer is key. Start off with your favorite moisturizer to prep your skin. This will help to counteract the drying effect flights have on your skin, as well as add some glow to your makeup look.

2—Say no to heavy foundation. When you add heavy foundation to the drying effects of a flight, it’s the perfect breeding ground for acne. Instead, skip your foundation and spot conceal the places you want to cover up. For me, this is any breakouts and a little under my eyes to hide dark circles.

3—Set it all in place. Using a translucent powder, set any of the places you put concealer. This will keep the concealer in place throughout the flight. You don’t need to powder your whole face, as this will make you feel more cakey.

4—Add some definition. Use a contour powder or bronzer for some definition and color. Blend it underneath your cheekbones, around your hairline, and down your neck.

5—Brows, brows, brows. Grab your favorite brow gel and brush it through your eyebrows to keep them looking their best throughout the flight.

6—Lashes time. Make sure to curl your eyelashes and add some mascara. This will open up your eyes, making you look more awake, even if it’s 6 a.m.

7—Your lips need moisture too! The drying effects of a flight goes for your lips as well. Make sure to apply your favorite lip balm to help your lips to stay soft.

8—Set it. Spray your face with some setting spray to make sure all of your hard work lasts through the flight.

With this makeup look, you’ll feel more confident without having to deal with some of the adverse effects of flying with makeup on. Your skin will still be getting much needed moisture, but you can also cover some of the spots on your skin you feel less confident about.
