CLASS OF 2015: Kira

I spent a bit longer in university than most of my friends—five years—because I decided to take a semester off and I didn’t want to rush through my experience. I’m very happy that I decided to extend my time at Carleton University because it allowed me to join a sorority, which has enriched by university experience, and truly figure out what I want to do with my degree. However, I’m so ecstatic to finally graduate! No more studying or stressing out over research papers and citations; it’s funny how happy I am to read books for pleasure again! It’s a little scary when I think about the fact that I’m a university graduate and about to begin my journey into the job market but I’m excited and anxious to make my mark.

While I was only a part of CollegeFashionista for one semester, this experience has taught me many important skills. Most notably, time management is key. I now have an excessive amount of calendars and planning apps on my phone to ensure that I’m keeping up with all my commitments. I’m also more conscious of my surroundings and pay more attention to the people around me. Because of this opportunity with CollegeFashionista, I am much more engaged in what’s happening around me, which is something I’m truly grateful for.

Graduating with a communications degree, the door is open to so many fields including public relations, marketing, advertising and more. Living in the capital of Canada, I’ve become more engaged in the political process and am hoping to secure a position working with a politician, government agency or organization that betters society. Fashion will always be a major part of my life and I’ve become more focused on improving my blog. I’m excited for any adventures that come my way and can’t wait for whatever the future holds!
