STYLE GURU STYLE: Fun With Floral

Itโ€™s no secret that I love a bit of floral, so when I lay my eyes on the alice + olivia spring ready-to-wear collection I fell instantly in love. From bright colors to neutrals, from fun and flirty to sophisticated and chic, this collection was the most beautiful contradiction I have ever seen. The mix of sophistication with girly and fun resonated with me since it is what I try to convey with my own personal style. I was inspired by this collection to recreate a look with a similar vibe but more appropriate to wear out and about.

This alice + olivia collection featured many varied looks, however, I noticed a trend of flowy, feminine pieces combined with more structured ones. I decided to go for a white halter top to mimic the more geometric side of the collection as well as the monochromatic color scheme found in many of the pieces. This collection exudes โ€™50s style with tea dresses, high-waisted and beaded pieces. I conveyed this classic femininity through a floral tea length skirt, which includes a similar color pattern and print to many pieces in this collection.

As for footwear, the alice + olivia line is full to the brim with high heels. I went with a pair of taupe heeled suede booties to make this look more practical for day-to-day. Lastly, I finished the look off with simple silver jewelry and my kate spade purse.

Having fun with floral is not something I do often. I find myself sticking with the same style formula, which can get a little boring sometimes. Mix up your floral pieces this spring, whether it be with different patterns, textures or styles, just always make sure that youโ€™re having fun.

Get My Look: 1. A white halter. 2. A tea length skirt. 3. Heeled booties.
