STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring in Siriano

It is super exciting that New York has finally settled for 60 degrees temperature. I am currently on the hunt for specific pieces I can wear over and over again for the months of April and May. I turned to spring 2015 ready to wear shows and discovered Christian Siriano’s line of spring layered looks. This collection experimented with transparency, ruffles, fringes and embellishments. But what captured me the most from the former Project Runway winner, now one of my favorite designers from fashion week lineup, is the opening look. The silhouette of the duster coat is joyous and an ideal style for spring.

I’m surrounding my inspired look with a similar duster coat that I scored recently. I love the muted color and draped fabric. This coat is also the perfect length for the long coat trend we are seeing. Underneath, I’m wearing a striped shirt with a gray flannel over for the contrast of prints. The thinness of the stripes isn’t overpowering combined with the checker print from the flannel. I paired my go-to pair of boyfriend jeans that never go wrong with simple Vans. The stripes on the shoes correspond with my top as well. I love to wear a statement bag with a neutral outfit so I have on my mixed texture cross-body. Of course, an outfit isn’t complete without rad sunglasses!

The duster coat is very effortless and essential for spring. I’m so glad to own one in my closet that I want to track down more. They happen to work with my casual attire or Sirano’s dressy runway look. Hope to see what other Fashionistas are loving for spring!
