ALL IN THE DETAILS: Brightening up a Cold Day

Even though we still have a couple months of winter left, I’m already tired of the drab colors and styles of both my surroundings and typical winter fashions. Bright colors often seem bold and almost out of place amongst the leafless trees and stark white snow. Cold weather looks are typically dark; they use colors like maroon, navy, and of course, black. However, this Fashionista defies the norm and does it well. I admire her ensemble because it immediately stands out, yet still manages to look sophisticated.

Her coat is this look’s obvious staple piece. Its red hue and flared fit appear both elegant and youthful. Along with zippers on the forearm, these details create a fresh spin on the classic peacoat look. Underneath her coat, she wears a gray turtleneck and a wool skirt that’s printed with a houndstooth pattern. Both of these pieces are weather appropriate, but they manage to make the wearer look as if she isn’t concerned with the cold when she puts her outfit together. When dressing for winter, this is the best possible combination.

Lastly, instead of opting for typical winter boots, this Fashionista wears over-the-knee boots. Not only are these types of boots incredibly trendy right now, but they also protect your legs from the cold and snow.

Let’s not let this winter weather to get us down! There are still plenty of ways to incorporate our favorite styles and colors into our wardrobe that will keep us warm and turn heads at the same time.
