STYLE GURU BIO: Lindsay Darke

Hello fellow Fashionistas! I’m Lindsay, a third-year student at the University of Minnesota studying communication studies and Spanish. My passions include writing, photography, and fashion, of course! My current career aspiration is being a public relations professional in the fashion industry, where I will be able to develop my skills in professional communications as well as have an outlet to express my passion for fashion. In addition to being a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista, I am also interning as a content writer for The Odyssey Online.

My personal style is constantly fluctuating, as I love to stay informed about and play with trends, but I also tend to gravitate toward classic styles and silhouettes. I also have an edgy alternative side, which definitely comes out in this first post! Some may say that I have style identity issues, but I say variety is the spice of life. For this look, I started with a foundation of all-black pieces—my distressed jeans are by Unif, my lace-up top is Express, and my cutout booties are Steve Madden. I’m a sucker for all-black looks, and I’m still debating if it’s out of laziness or chicness. To break up the monochromatic color scheme and to tie the look together, I threw on my oversized, distressed flannel from Free People. I skipped accessories to prevent the look from being overwhelming and to let my personal style shine through.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to represent the University of Minnesota as a Style Guru, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s #RAD looks this semester!
