STYLE GURU BIO: Lindsey Joseph

Hi Fashionistas, my name is Lindsey Joseph and I am a marketing student at Temple. For me, the best compliment I can get is, “your outfit is so cute.” Knowing that your outfit caught someone’s attention enough for them to tell you about it is a great addition to your day! This little compliment has an effect on how I choose to dress. I do not want to say that I dress for the approval of others, but I definitely dress to show my interest in fashion and I love when people can see that.

Deciding what I want to wear is one of my more important decisions of the day. First I have to figure out what kind of mood I am in, and then I start digging through my clothes. Finding a comfy outfit that I love is always key for me. When I have an outfit on that I look good in and feel good in the day goes by a little easier. Sure, I have my days where I throw on sweatpants and have a total lazy, push-me-and-I-go day, but I make sure to make up for it with consecutive days of cute outfits to follow!

Having a love for fashion gives me the energy and need to wear nice clothes for a majority of the days. I mean I buy clothes to stay in style, be trendy, look cute, and because I am a shopaholic, so I might as well wear them. Along with dressing I love to accessorize. For me, accessorizing includes a scarf, purse, jewelry, shoes, and even a hat, in the colder months. For one of my dressier days of dressing for class I decided to wear a black leotard with wide sleeves to give my outfit a more dramatic look, I paired the leotard with a denim skirt, accessorized with metallic tights and finished it off with crushed velvet booties.

Dressing up for class becomes a lot easier when you break your outfit down into simple pieces. Sometimes the crazier the patterns or the more you have going on with your outfit, does not always mean better. So take it down a tone and find your simple, yet dressier style.
