WHAT TO WEAR: Class

New semester, same struggle. While another school year begins, the anticipation and refreshed feeling we all often have most likely wears off after five minutes into our first class (especially if that class happens to be at 8:00 a.m.). As the days of dressing for constant summer heat transition into that confusing period of days with 50 degree weather in the morning and 80 degree weather at noon, we may feel as if we’re at a dead end with what we should wear. Even though our phones, our social media and our favorite blogs have been blowing up with new looks and trends from New York Fashion week, the temptation to limit our wardrobe choices to tees, leggings and sweatshirts still definitely exists. And some days, I will admit, I’ll be caught wearing a quarter zip sweatshirt and athletic shorts, but it’s easier than you think to look put together and express your own style, even for those 8 a.m. classes.

Instead of waking up in the morning and reaching straight for your favorite pair of leggings, go that extra mile and put on some distressed jeans. Our Fashionista is wearing a medium-wash pair and cuffs the bottoms, giving them a cropped look. Wearing an oversized cardigan can help with comfort as well; it does the job just as amazingly as a hoodie. While our Fashionista is wearing a white, chiffon tank top (who needs that “no white after labor day” rule anymore), you could easily put a loose white T-shirt underneath the cardigan as well.

Easy touches complete the look. Break in to your stockpile of jewelry and you’re bound to find a statement piece to accent the otherwise simple look. The Fashionista’s necklace was a perfect way to go about this as it sticks out from her white tank top. Boat shoes are a perfect summer-to-fall transition shoe, but if you have a lot of walking around campus to do, simple sneakers may do the trick too. And finally, don’t be afraid to go for the oh so convenient yet cute messy bun to save you a few extra minutes in the morning.
