STYLE GURU STYLE: The Casual White Dress

The heat is on here in Washington! This past week has been filled with some much needed sunshine and warmth, putting everyone in the best mood ever. With the weather outside looking a little more fitting for spring, everyone has come out from hibernation, rocking the latest spring trends.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dress up without having to worry about layers, so I threw on a simple white dress to keep things effortless and classy. When you’re a college student who’s frequently loaded with homework, jobs, internships and a social life, a dress is the easiest and quickest way you can look put-together without trying too hard.

This look was inspired by Viktor and Rolf’s spring 2016 collection with a Greek goddess twist. After seeing the collection, I fell in love with the art behind it, the all-white look and it has made me want to attempt re-creating a look that resembled that structured style minus the cubist details. Since this look was so plain on its own, I decided to add a little bit more flare by adding on a golden belt around the waist and gladiator sandals to give that modern Greek goddess vibe to it.

Looking closer at the artistic spring collection, I also noticed how natural-looking the models looked. They seemed to have little to no makeup on their faces and I thought that was brilliant because spring is all about keeping things fresh and natural. With that in mind, I didn’t go too heavy on the makeup and also kept it as simple as possible with just a sweep of a neutral-colored lipstick, some mascara and face powder.
