WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

Waking up in the morning and realizing that it’s finally Saturday could quite possibly be one of my favorite feelings in the world. Weekends are filled with endless possibilities, especially when you live with all of your best friends. Whether you decide to spend the day catching up on much needed sleep and Netflix, or choose to venture off campus to explore that new neighborhood you’ve been dying to see, you really can’t go wrong. To ensure that your weekend is as fierce as you are, be sure to sport your most stylish outfit, but make sure to stay comfortable too. Who knows what adventures your day will bring, and a true Fashionista is always ready for anything.

This Fashionista is on her way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon at The Fly, a well-loved Tulane hangout spot by the Mississippi River where students like to soak up the sun, sip on ice-cold drinks and unwind after a long week of classes and exams.  Her backless, bohemian style dress is a perfect way to beat the heat of a late September afternoon.  With the bold print of this dress, she only needs to wear one simple layer in order to create an attention-grabbing look—an essential trick for any Fashionista in New Orleans.

Because the dress is so eye-catching on its own, this student chose to stick to simple accessories that really play up the boho vibe of this look.  By layering two shorter necklaces, she really accentuates her collar bone, and adding a few turquoise rings provides a subtle pop of color.  She opted for a pair of flat, gladiator sandals so her day at The Fly can be filled with dancing around with friends and strolling down the riverbank to watch the sunset.

One Simple Change: To take this boho get-up to the next level for a night out on the town, switch out the sandals for a pair of strappy heels, pull your hair into a messy up-do, and add some big statement earrings.
