4 NYFW Beauty Trends You Actually Can (and Should) Recreate Right Now

February 13th, 2017 at 2:00am

New York Fashion Week runways are always inspiring. And while the designer looks are often gorgeous, their price tags alone don’t make them a realistic option for a college student on a budget. The beauty trends, however, are definitely more attainable and a great way to incorporate the high fashion NYFW look into your everyday life.

Read on to find out what new trends will make you rethink products you already own and thought you’d mastered.

Keeping the rest of the face minimal, pack the eyeshadow onto those eyes! An extra bonus is that this trend can be imitated in much less time than your usual face. It actually looks better when your hair, lips and brows look a little undone. Who knew you actually do have time to look trendy for an 8 a.m. class?

(Not So Fresh) Fresh Face:

I am loving all the minimalism this fashion week! The goal here is to look like you just worked out (minus the sweat and repulsively unavoidable fly-aways). What we will take from this look is the glowing skin, moisturized lips, and rosy cheeks. Imitating this one is also pretty effortless. Start with a medium-coverage foundation, a heavy coat of lip balm (or a thin coat of a natural-hued lip tint), then get your brows on point! To finish off your fresh-faced beauty look, avoid the outdated habit of applying blush directly to the apples of your cheeks. Instead, swipe blush along the area of your cheek that you’d usually apply bronzer or contour shades to. Highlighter is optional!

This season, we’re going beyond matte and adding a third dimension. That means upping your lip game with gloss, glitter, or even metallics! Check out this post to see my favorite glosses, all very easy to press glitter pigments onto with a flat, synthetic lip brush.

Penny Lids:

What a pretty penny you’ll be with these beautiful copper lids! Glitter is completely optional, but my favorite way to sport this look is using Stila’s Foil-Finish Eyeshadow. Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadow in Boy Band is also a great alternative (for only $5)! Just like the “Saturated Eyes” trend, this can also be pulled off with just one shadow color.
