STYLE GURU STYLE: Whiteout

Spring 2016? Where are you? The first day of spring has past, but on the East Coast, it seems as if the weather has yet to catch up. Since Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week runs spring collections in September, Fashionistas/os have been waiting to try on these trends for months! If you’re as impatient as I am, it is time to break out the spring wardrobe, despite the cool temperatures that still linger.

One of my favorite collections from spring 2016 ready-to-wear is Balenciaga. Excitement was building because this was Alexander Wang’s last stint with the company. Everyone knew something big was in store, and they were right. This collection featured relaxed, couture, loungewear vibes in shades of ivory. Watching the clothing effortlessly drape on the model’s bodies as they walked down the runway made the show magical. These looks were the epitome of a springtime goddess.

With so many runway shows bringing out crazed hair and makeup, it was nice to see a natural and fresh look for spring. These pieces stuck out in my mind because they had a simple feel, as if I could jump out of bed in the morning, put them on and look instantly chic without trying too hard.  Isn’t that the goal of warm weather anyway? When it’s nice outside, we don’t want to spend hours getting ready. We want an outfit that’s as free-flowing as our schedules.

Shades of white can be tricky. There are so many rules. Is it really only a four month window before I have to retire them after Labor Day? With this style you don’t have to worry. No one will be questioning your outfit when you look this fashionable.

Get My Look: 1. Sheer white top. 2. Lace bralette. 3. Lounge pants.
4. Loose-fitting cardigan. 5. Your favorite sunnies.
