STYLE GURU STYLE: Two For One

Give me crop tops, crop tops and more crop tops! It’s the trend that first caught our attention last spring and one that better not be going anywhere anytime soon. Whether you’re looking for a show stopping look or an ultra-feminine, classic style, in my own biased opinion, the crop top can truly do it all.

I’ve always had a personal obsession with the shrunken-shirt, midriff-baring style, but lately what really has me head over heels is a matching crop top and skirt combination. Designers like Michael Kors have brought inspiration for this stunning look for spring 2015. Pairing a cropped top with a matching skirt like this creates a look that is refreshingly chic yet fun and playful enough to match your springtime vibes. Between graduations, weddings and any other events spring may throw at you, this duo is a go-to look that every Fashionista must try.

For my look, I chose a fitted crop top with a matching floral-patterned skirt. The key to pulling off this close-fitting, cropped style while still looking feminine and, in many cases, appropriate, is to pair it with a skirt that has plenty of body to it. The skirt I chose is a fit-and-flare style with a nicely fitted top but finished with a flouncy, relaxed bottom. I completed my look with a simple pair of nude, cork wedge sandals.

So, when you’re planning your outfit for your next big event, don’t be shy. Save the safe route sundress and instead make a statement in a fun and flirty, cropped coordinated look. Besides, don’t we all know that two is always better than one?

Get my look: 1. A fitted crop top 2. A matching, flowy skirt  3. A pair of simple, nude wedges.
