STYLE GURU STYLE: Transitioning to Spring

As the winter chill comes to an end, every college student looks forward to the warmth of spring and everyone’s favorite time: spring break. All you Pacific Northwesterners and East Coasters know exactly what I’m talking about—the daydreams of sunnier days on the beach without the rain or snow or cloudy skies. Trust me, being from Southern California, the Seattle winter was a bit rough, so I could not wait to break out those shorts and skirts for spring break and the new spring quarter.

Though my spring break did not consist of sunny and relaxing days on the beach, the 87-degree heat of Texas provided that warm transition from winter to spring. In this transition look I styled a classic white buttoned jean skirt with a simple long sleeve T-shirt. Buttoned jean skirts became a big trend in the past year and they still continue to hold a spot in everyone’s closet. This simple long sleeve T-shirt is a great transition piece for spring, not only because it is a color other than black, which was the majority of my winter closet. I styled it with everyone’s favorite closet staple: a gray lace bralette. Bralettes are one of today’s biggest trends and one of my personal favorites. To finish this look, I added a pair of classic brown sandals. Sandals are a staple in my spring and summer closet and is a trend that I hope will never go away.

As we move into warmer and longer days—thank you daylight savings time—this look will become one that I will definitely be wearing. It’s time to break out those rompers and shorts that have been hiding in the back of your closet during these past winter months because spring time is here. Take advantage of those sunny skies and warm walks to class because before we know it the winter cold will be back.
