STYLE GURU STYLE: The Yellow Jacket

Spring has definitely arrived early this year in New York City and I am loving every second of it. I’m not sure what it is about wintertime, but I always feel as if my outfits tend to be so dull, and I catch myself reaching for an oversize gray sweater with leggings rather than any pops of color. With spring coming in full bloom this last week in the city, temperatures were as high as 65 degrees in some parts—I am ready to put some life and color back into my wardrobe. Along with the warmer weather, spring also brings those endless rainy days. Rather than surrendering to the gloomy weather and choosing one of my black or navy coats, I decided to add some color with a yellow raincoat

For the last few years, I have been on the search for the perfect yellow raincoat. You would not believe how hard it is to come across a yellow jacket that is both affordable and cute. Most tend to be too long, too boxy or way too overpriced. I was out shopping in Union Square the other week when I spotted this gem, a yellow jacket. Now, it’s more of a mustard color and I wouldn’t say it’s my dream yellow raincoat, but it will do for the time being. To embrace the cloudy NYC weather, I paired my new yellow coat with my favorite navy striped shirt, skinny jeans and what other than the classic Hunter rain boot.

For this outfit, I definitely went for the more timeless and classic look. There’s something about striped tops and yellow raincoats that I just absolutely adore. Wearing this outfit, especially the yellow raincoat, I felt full of life in the dreary streets of the city. No doubt I stood out from the crowd of black, gray, and navy coats that other New Yorkers sported. Even though spring has yet to fully begin, I can already tell that the yellow raincoat will be showcased in many of my looks this season, it’s a classic and versatile coat that brings the perfect amount of color to any outfit.
