STYLE GURU STYLE: The Derivative Of 2015 Collections

The early morning birds chirping, the sunlight streaming in through your window, warm winds and sun-kissed pedestrians strolling to the wondrous farmer’s market. Ah, spring, you’re my favorite. This glorious season yields an increase in campus and city events, relaxing times at the terrace with the best company and of course exciting new fashion trends! Since the beginning of the season, I’ve been very interested in two designers, specifically their spring 2015 collections.

The first designer is Adam Selman. Selman’s spring 2015 collection is composed of youthful-gone-classic pieces, and I’m completely obsessed with one piece in particular: denim linen shorts. I absolutely love this look as I find it fitting for both casual and professional life. The second collection I adore is Elie Saab’s spring 2015 couture. Saab’s entire collection revolves around intricate embroidery. And I’ll be honest, I’ve never really thought too much about incorporating embroidery into my wardrobe, that is until I saw this collection. The pieces are exquisite and both designers inspire me to incorporate this detailing into my everyday spring wear.

So here I am mixing inspirational pieces drawn from both designers by combining denim linen shorts and a black embroidered top.

The shorts are fabulous and are sure to be a staple in my wardrobe. They’re super comfortable and highly versatile-definitely approved for all of us busy college students. If yoga pants/running tights are what you love to wear in the cooler months to stay warm and comfortable, try them for the warmer months. Moving on to the top, I love how detailed this embroidery is andl it adds a great element of curiosity to the ensemble. I chose to tuck it in for a more tailored look and added definition. Due to the top being very intricate and somewhat sheer, I opted for this patterned blazer to bring the look together. I completed the look with light jewelry and wedges. Besides being a spring and summer staple, wedges are my favorite way to dress up an outfit because they are undeniably comfortable. Due to a greater surface area, wedges are more comfortable and better for your feet. Since your weight is evenly distributed on the platform, this also improves your balance, whereas in typical heels the majority of one’s weight is propelled to the ball of the foot. Therefore, if you’re like me and desire to be tall for long periods of time, opt for wedges to stay feeling like the beautiful, powerful being you are! Happy spring, Fashionistas/os!
