STYLE GURU STYLE: Graphic Tease

Whenever I’m not sure what to wear, the first shirt I pull out of my closet is a graphic T-shirt. I don’t discriminate against any kind—I think the T-shirts with clever sayings or the ones with cute little graphics are great, but my go-to has definitely been band T-shirts. They’re cool, comfortable, and can add that flare to any outfit, especially when you’re in an outfit crisis.

I was a little reluctant to opting for a band T-shirt only because you know there’s that one person that asks, “do you even listen to them?” or “I bet you can’t even name five songs!” This always discouraged me from wanting to wear them, but then I remembered the most important rule of fashion, if you like it, wear it. So that’s what I did.

You can find band T-shirts, or graphic T-shirts of any kind at basically any store these days. This is one of my favorite T-shirts because I love the off-white cream color and the distressing on the collar and the edge of the sleeves gives it that worn in, owned it forever kind of look. Rock bands usually have really cool logos and graphics to begin with, so you can really find whichever one that fits your personal style. I’m obsessed with lips and have been on the hunt for a cool Rolling Stones T-shirt, so I lucked out with this one from Brandy Melville. (And yes, I do listen to them!)

For a totally vintage look, I decided to pair my T-shirt with a cool pair of high-waisted bell bottom denim jeans. I love that bell bottoms have been making a comeback because you can find some really cool pairs in all different styles. Mine are from Hollister, but again, most stores have a couple pairs in stock. Since these jeans have a wide flare and are a tad long on me, I added my holy grail chunky heeled booties from H&M. I decided to accessorize with a leather jacket, a red neck scarf, and a cool pair of sunglasses to complete my look.

So, the next time that you find yourself searching through your completely full closet stressing that you have nothing to wear, just opt for a graphic T-shirt or a band T-shirt. You’ll be sure to get a lot of compliments on your look, and it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll automatically feel 10 times more rad than you already are.
