In the recent resort 2015 collection, Oscar de la Renta opened the show with a black and white sequence. Slowly we see pops of colors start peaking in throughout, but black and white stay the main color palette. One of my favorite pops of color in the collection is a fuchsia shoe with the black and white coat dress. The collection consists of a classic, elegant look for which Oscar de la Renta is known. This look is achieved with the help of this black and white scheme. The bandeaus, bustiers and shorts give it a more summer vibe that we usually see in a Resort collection. Along with the combination of the elegant and summery looks, I think Oscar de la Renta created a flawless collection.
Today I tried out this Oscar de la Renta inspired look with a black and white ensemble. I went with my new white envelope skirt from Express and paired it with my favorite black sweater from Shoppe Pioneer. The sweater has white textured polka dots, which is seen in the collection on a similar fabric. For shoes, I go with some black strappy heels. Now you can’t forget the accessories! I chose my white flower statement necklace and some dainty rings. To complete this look, I decided to do a pop of pink. Instead of the fuchsia shade seen in the collection, I went with my light pink kate spade bag.
Some people shy away from this color scheme during the summer months, and it is definitely a surprising choice for a resort collection. We always expect bright, vibrant colors in these collections, but Oscar proves that black and white is timeless. He shows us that it can be incorporated into any season to achieve an effortless and classic look. I know I am definitely going to be channeling this look a lot this summer!
