STYLE GURU STYLE: All Hail the Midi Dress

The elegant midi dress; it isn’t long or short but right in between. A length that is often ignored by many, but can be one of the greatest outfits when styled correctly.

For my look, I picked out one of my favorite midi dresses from a brand called Monki sold on ASOS. Plaid is always a great fall and winter staple, so combining plaid and a dress is perfection. The plaid has a range of colors in it including gray, black, mustard yellow and deep purple, giving lots of shoe and accessory options. I decided to pair the dress with my absolute favorite Steve Madden nude strappy block heels even though it is a fall look. The nude heels help to make elongate my legs since a midi dress can make you look a little shorter. Midi dresses can look very put together and grown-up when paired with heels. However, that isn’t the only way to style this wardrobe staple. Swap out the heels for a pair of converse if you want to be more casual. For the cooler months, tights and a pair of ankle booties can do the trick to keep you warm yet stylish. Add a leather jacket and you can make the look edgy, yet girly. The versatility of the midi dress is undeniable.

I chose to go simple with the rest of my outfit, including makeup, hair and accessories. I have neutral eye makeup, natural hair and a simple David Yurman bracelet. This way the focus is all on the midi dress.

To recreate this look, go get yourself a plaid midi dress and I promise you will never want to wear anything else.
