STYLE GURU STYLE: A Loafer By Any Other Name

What I loved the most about the Burberry Prorsum spring 2016 menswear collection were the shoes. The easy-to-slip-on loafers topped with tassels were worthy of royalty and totally die for. A loafer, minus the tassel, is still a loafer.

I was inspired by this show in the way that loafers were paired with neutrals for a timeless, not dated, take on an old staple. Some trends have the power to turn a Fashionista into a dated fashion victim, whether it makes them look too old or too young. Loafers are no exception. Mixing hints of red with impeccable tailoring (plus, the classic trench and pea coats that Burberry Prorsum is known for) kept the look fresh.

I incorporated the same color palette of camel, gray, black and red into my take on the trend. I layered a plaid shirt with cuffed sleeves underneath my camel sweater. I let my pale pink cross-body bag hang just above my hip for a high fashion look. Luxurious scarves, such as the one I’ve worn here, are easy to find at every price point.

My favorite part of the outfit is, of course, the black and white loafers worn here with pink and gray athletic socks. I love the idea of wearing socks as an accessory instead of a necessity; make sure to add a graphic pair to update your loafer look.

Get My Look: 1. Choose a camel colored sweater. 2. Loafers (with or without a tassel). 3. Fun socks.
