STYLE GURU BIO: Sabrina Kennelly

Everyone has an obsession. For some it might be cats, with their houses adorned in lamp shades, blankets or kitchenware with a couple (or thousands) of their favorite furry feline everywhere. For myself, I have found my obsession to revolve around fashion. The magazines, the stores and the runways have been a part of my life since I could remember how to breath. Okay, maybe I’m being a tad dramatic on this, but like many other Fashionistas, the obsession started at a young age.

I blame it on dresses. I have been in love with fashion since I was a little girl and made a personal oath to myself one day during pre-school (or as I called it back then “pretty school”) that I would only wear dresses. Even at a young age of four years old, I recognized that it was important to present  myself in a certain manner. This ideology hasn’t changed for my personal style yet. At age 22, though I might wear pants every so  often, maintaining a dressier look has been my thing. Yes, I follow certain trends (though you wont be able to catch me wearing a crop top ever), but throughout the years I have learned that classic is better. After all, it can’t ever go out of style.

Style is subjective. Not everyone is going to agree that a certain garment should be qualified as “stylish.” At the same time, I believe that a garment alone (no matter how fabulous it might be), cannot stand alone by itself. In order for it (in my opinion) to be considered truly stylish the Fashionista must pair it with the proper accessories such as shoes, hats, gloves and jewelry. A Fashionista will look at what they see in advertisements (past and present), look at their environment and interpret the piece to their own standards and guidelines. Throughout my posts you will see just that, a mix of pieces being worn and interpreted by Fashionistas around the Twin Cities area. After all, fashion is an art, and it deserves to be showcased.

Here, I highlight an example of my personal style. It might be the fact that I just came back from living in Paris, but black dresses have become my go-to for outfits. A classic option, black dresses are like blank canvases for myself. You can mix and match different accessories making an infinite number of possible chic looks.
