Hey y’all! I’m Molly and I am more than excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am currently a sophomore studying Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have lived in Knoxville my entire life, and let’s just say that the color orange runs through my blood (go Vols!). Being from the South, I am thankful for Southern hospitality, sweet tea, “yes ma’am,” “no sir” and seersucker, just to name a few.
I started out my college career with a major in Microbiology. Throughout my prior education, I took classes that would prepare me for a career revolving around science. I had been signed with a modeling agency for a few years, but I realized all of my five-feet-five inches in height was not going to make it on the cover of Vogue. The summer before my freshman year of college, I was approached by a few clothing companies to post their merchandise on my social media pages. I did not realize at the time that this would change my direction in life completely. After continuously complaining about my chemistry and biology classes, I decided that I needed to enjoy my career in order to live a successful, fulfilling life, so I switched into the business college in order to pursue a degree in Marketing.
Over this past summer, I noticed my purchases gravitating toward basic pieces rather that those that would make a statement. As a college student, I wanted to have clothing I could wear more than just a few times. Over the past couple of years and this year specifically, I observed that among the blacks, whites, tans and grays, there was a new neutral color joining the group–blush. Blush adds a softer, more feminine touch when mixed with other neutrals that we all love and cherish.
When it comes to creating an outfit, I always have the mindset to mix several different styles to create my own. I love mixing pieces from different styles, such as boho and preppy, to create one cohesive look. Doing this, I believe, is the driving force behind the never-ending evolution in fashion.
