STYLE GURU BIO: Maeve Scully

Hi all! I am thrilled to be returning as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru this semester. As my second year of college is beginning, a style revamp is necessary. Freshman year is for leggings and running late to class. Sophomore year is for more leggings but also finding your footing—your place on campus. I’ve been doing a lot of interviews and meeting more important faculty members, so looking professional while keeping my style (and comfortable clothes) is a must.

The outfit that I’ve featured in this article is a good example of my day-to-day style. For class, I would replace the heeled boots with Birkenstocks or sneakers. As the quintessential lazy college student, I try to reduce the amount of times I have to do laundry, making this the perfect outfit as it can shift from day to night.

Midi skirts will never go out of style. The latest trend that I’m loving is the pleated midi skirt. Metallic and color-blocked designs add a unique flare to each look. Pairing a plain top with one of these makes for a cohesive and stylish look. I try to buy pieces that will always be in style—giving my wardrobe a timeless take on all the trends. You can dress a look like this up or down, which is what I do most days. Adding a statement piece like a chunky necklace or bag (currently loving my pink Kate Spade tote) and even an exciting lip color (TooFaced Matte Liquid Lipstick is THE BEST) makes my look dressy enough for dinner or a night out.

I can’t wait to see what this #RAD semester with CollegeFashionista holds! Stay tuned.
