STYLE GURU BIO: Lena Mendelson

Hello all! My name is Lena Mendelson and I am a Fashion Merchandising major at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

When it comes to fashion, I have some staple items I cannot live without. Hats are the perfect accessory and it may also be because I am also a huge Giants fan. Jean jackets are also perfect to dress up or down and needed with San Francisco’s unpredictable weather. Sweats have been appearing in my closet probably because they are comfortable and give me a chance to show off my other favorite accessory—shoes.

I have always been a very active and adventurous gal. This is probably why my style has pieces that are active and comfortable. When walking around the city of San Francisco, I have found that comfort is essential and I tend to choose sneakers before running out the door.

My closet consists of minimal colors because I tend to chose items that are black, white, gray or nude. I enjoy pairing my shoes with a matching hat to spice up my sometimes “simple” outfits.

My greatest fashion inspiration is Kylie Jenner. I love her willingness to take risks and pair masculine pieces with crop tops that she usually pairs with, what else but a hat.

My biggest fashion moment so far was when I attended Teen Vogue’s Fashion University in March of 2015. It was my first time visiting and I could not have asked for a better experience. The appreciation for fashion there was nothing like I had seen before and it inspires me everyday to continue my journey in the fashion industry.

I look forward to my journey with College Fashionista and can’t wait for you to read posts from your #RAD Style Guru gal!
