STYLE GURU BIO: Lara Loptman

I’m Lara, a sophomore majoring in English and Textiles and Clothing at University of California, Davis. As someone born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, I’ve been immersed in cities where the bar for fashion is set high, and it’s been easy find inspiration all around me.

When it comes to fashion, most of my inspiration is based from television shows (mostly Gossip Girl), movies (mostly Clueless), magazines, people-watching and, of course, the internet. Let’s be real, people, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get half of my wardrobe inspiration from Tumblr. Since my inventory of inspiration is so large, my style is ever-changing by result. However, no matter how much my style has changed, it always seems to gravitate towards neutral colors and bold patterns.

Seeing as it’s the end of August, it’s hard to not incorporate the most minimalistic, yet essential color into every one of my outfits as I try to savor the summer. Will I regret wearing this white romper? Probably (knowing me, definitely), but the risk of looking cute outweighs the risk of getting it dirty. Clearly, I have my priorities straight.

I’m a huge fan of clothing that can be put on in less than 10 seconds, which is why I love wearing rompers in the summer. Another trend I’ve fallen in love with this summer are Birkenstock sandals. I partially love the sandals because they’re cute and comfy, but mostly because I’m able to put them on without lacing anything. As a minimalist, I’ve never been a huge fan of statement jewelry, but I do love small pieces that help pull an outfit together. For that reason, I love charm necklaces like the opal Hamsa one I’m wearing; they add to an outfit without distracting from it.

Anyway, I’m super excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista this fall and can’t wait to share more posts soon!
