STYLE GURU BIO: Julie Meza

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Julie Meza and I am a junior at Saint Mary’s College. I am a Marketing major with an immense love for fashion and beauty. I am so excited to share that same love with you throughout this semester as a part of the CollegeFashionista team!

From a young age, I have always had an interest in fashion; however, it was not until I was in high school that my love became more profound. During this time, my best friend and I quickly developed a little obsession with the city of Chicago. We grew up about 45 minutes from the city, so day trips downtown became one of our favorite pastimes. There was no better feeling than shopping in downtown Chicago and taking note of all the trends we saw on the streets.

I would describe my personal style as moderately trendy. While my closet consists mostly of basic neutrals, I still like to incorporate a few trendy pieces to stay current. In the outfit I am currently wearing, I chose a neutral T-shirt dress and my green army vest. I love these two pieces because they are so versatile and can be styled in so many different ways; however, my favorite part of any outfit is the accessories.

In my opinion, jewelry plays a sizeable role in the transformation of any outfit because the possibilities are never ending. Recently, I have been obsessed with layering necklaces and mixing metals, both of which I incorporated into my outfit. I took two different necklaces and layered them together to really bring out the colors of the T-shirt dress. I tied in a little bit of gold with a mixed metal watch and kept the remaining accessories silver. I never want my jewelry to speak louder than the clothing pieces, but rather enhance the entire look.

I am so excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team. I cannot wait to uncover more styles and trends around campus. Stay tuned to read all about them.
