STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Transitioning with Boyfriend Jeans

Here in Missouri, the weather can never make up its mind. One week, it can seem as if we are transitioning into the fall. Then the next week it can feel as if we are back in the hot mid-July months, wanting to do nothing more than stay inside and blast the air conditioning. So what’s a Fashionista/o to do when the weather is constantly changing from one extreme to another? Keep cool and find transitional pieces!

I found this Fashionista walking into the University of Missouri-Columbia student center to escape the heat, when I noticed her boyfriend jeans. Boyfriend jeans, a fall trend that has been around since middle school, are normally paired with blazers or tight fitted tops to contrast the baggy look. However, this Fashionista pairs the jeans with a loose white top. White tops are a staple piece of any wardrobe.  They become versatile in every season as you can layer them under jackets or tie a knot at the bottom similar to what this Fashionista did. This is sort of reminiscent of the knotting trend used by Kendall Jenner on most of her graphic T-shirts as she strutted around Los Angeles.

Because boyfriend jeans are ultimately seen as masculine, it is normal to see a set of heels accompanying them. But she uses on-trend sneakers to hone the masculine vibe and embrace her inner tomboy. She tops off the look with a straw, fedora hat creating more of a laid back look.

Now we can all welcome transitioning into the fall with open arms as boyfriend jeans make it easier to showcase personal style and create comfort for any day of the week.
