Style Advice of the Week

As we settle into our second semester schedules and the routine of winter, it is important to stay as warm as possible. Walking to class can be pretty brutal with only one layer underneath your parka. My advice to you Fashionistas this week is that the key to staying warm is layering up.

Layering can be useful for so many different reasons. It offers you the opportunity to be creative with your closet and put different things together. I spotted this Fashionista on campus and immediately loved the way she used layers in the freezing Minnesota temperatures. This Fashionista was wearing a long, red and white patterned blouse under a gray cotton poncho sweater on top of black leggings, a black knitted wool scarf, brown booties with a small heel and a stylish backpack.

She was able to show off her style in the cold without hiding it under a big puffy jacket. What I like most about this outfit is her poncho because of the neutral color, and it can easily be added on top of clothing items instead of a jacket; this way she is able to stay warm and fashionable at the same time. She also added a touch of dark pink lipstick to pull the look together.

I also love layering because it allows you to broaden your closet and try things you might not usual try. Two of your favorite pieces could be added together to make a whole new look. Try layering up for classes this week and stay warm!
