Style Advice of the Week

With spring semester starting in a week, I can’t help but feel that spring is here! It is not until I realize that winter’s official start occurred only a few weeks ago when I begin to feel a sense of sadness, as I long for a warm Connecticut spring day. On the bright side, though, Fashionistas are still able to comfortably take part in winter’s greatest gift: sweater weather.

When I asked to photograph this week’s Fashionista I couldn’t help but notice her sense of effortless style as she took a simple white sweater and accessorized it with a vibrant scarf, whose pop of color essentially tied her featured outfit together. Her crisp white sweater instantaneously reminded me of one of my favorite runway looks, featured in Derek Lam’s fall 2012 ready-to-wear show. Lam’s runway look included a crisp white woven sweater vest that was effortlessly paired with a white chiffon maxi skirt, beautifully creating an overall feminine look.

If you’re looking for a fun yet versatile knit, consider this pink sweater from Madewell. The unique and feminine color of this sweater will be sure to get you noticed. Its chic simplicity also offers you the capability to pair it with any accessory or garment of your choice.

Thankfully, fashion has hopped on the sweater bandwagon, creating endless possibilities in terms of colors, knits and prints. Thus, this semester, make it a point to get the most out of your favorite sweater, as spring is sure to be here before we know it.
