STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fashion-Forward

By the title of this article, one would assume that I am speaking of someone who wears the most expensive clothing or is a major trendsetter. However, I am speaking of someone who comes to a town where fashion sense isn’t as common and brings in a style that no one is used to! And you don’t have to be flamboyant. Let your confidence do the talking.

My advice is to give your campus something it’s not used to. Make them uncomfortable by showing them daring ensembles that will open their eyes to a whole new world of fashion! That’s what being fashion-forward is all about. Following your own trends and expressing yourself through fashion.

This Fashionista kept it simple with ripped jeans, a T-shirt and sneakers. But one thing that stuck out to me was the cut of her pants. She said that she got the idea from her friends in New York City and her boyfriend designed her sneakers. She didn’t care about the norm of Nike running shorts, running sneakers and oversized T-shirts that are overpopulating our campus. This Fashionista brought her originality and spunk to our campus and it will be sure to make a mark and we’ll see more people joining in on her fashion statement!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t hide behind trends on your campus that make you blend in. Show off who you are and bring in a new trend you have been wanting to try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
