STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fall Layers

I don’t know about you, but fall has to be my absolute favorite time of the year. There’s nothing like a chilly, brisk evening accompanied by beautiful red and gold leaves falling from the trees. For me, this when I really have fun with layering lots of cool pieces. Today’s Fashionisto does it perfectly, and he represents the epitome of a classic, yet edgy, fall look.

Long jackets are definitely in style right now, and I think that they create an effortless ensemble when paired with multiple layers underneath. While long jackets have always been important to the creation of a quintessential, timeless look, I think that right now they are in their heyday. Long jackets are being worn by numerous celebrities and featured in many fashion shows. Sophistication is undeniably “in.”

Underneath this Fashionisto’s jacket is a flannel paired with a simple gray shirt. The combination of the two allow for a casual, yet thoughtful outfit. Instead of only wearing a basic T-shirt, this Fashionisto uses layers to complete his look. To top it all off, he wears black skinny jeans with brown boots. I personally love when men wear boots, because boots will always make an outfit look much chicer than sneakers ever could. He accessorizes with stacked bracelets and a watch, and leaves sunglasses dangling in the neck of his shirt—with our crazy Chicago weather, you never know when a cloudy day might turn into a sunny one.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “For me, fall weather is all about the layers and color combinations. Dark greens, grays, and browns go really well together. Layering topcoats and parkas over a flannel and a sweater combination always makes a comfortable outfit.”
