STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Chills 'N' Frills

Autumn is personally my favorite season for fashion. The weather starts to get a bit chilly, leading to a few of my favorite things: jackets, boots and socks. Another bonus to fall fashion are the darker, more earthy tones, which include burnt oranges, mustard yellows, burgundy, hunter green, etc.

For the main star of this outfit my model, Angelina, chose a wine-colored dress with flowers of yellow, white, blue and green leaves. Since each color complements one another so nicely, the difference do not distract from the rest of the outfit. Tying in with the subtle blue flowers on her dress, Angelina pieced her denim jacket with the dress. Not only does this give structure to the flowy dress, it also helps to layer and stay warm as the weather cools down. A major key to creating a fall outfit would definitely have to be a cute pair of boots or booties. These lace-up combat boots work well with the jacket to contrast the femininity of the floral dress.

Let’s take a closer look at the accessories. Warm tones that come out during fall fashion are well complemented by gold accessories. The gold locket Angelina is wearing is simple and classic, making the look more casual for a daytime look. In my opinion, the most exciting part of this outfit are the socks! Peeping socks are a fun way to accessorize, especially socks that have frills and lace. While the contrast between the lace and boots is subtle, it helps bring back the femininity to the outfit.
