STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: All Layered Up

Here at Marist, the weather has been a little crazy. I am not exaggerating at all when I say that one week I’m dressing for 80 degree weather, and the next, I’m walking to class in the snow. I’ve noticed more and more how difficult it is becoming to choose an outfit that is both fashionable AND suitable for any type of weather.

My style advice for this confusing autumn weather? Lots and lots of layers!

I found this Fashionista walking through campus and thought her outfit was perfect for the fluctuating weather we have been having. Her simple shift dress is perfect for layering and something I strongly suggest adding to your wardrobe. The number of styles a weather confused Fashionista can pull off with this simple piece are endless. She chose to pair her simple dress with an army green jacket and some long necklaces. Since it was a particularly hot day here in Poughkeepsie, she couldn’t go without her nude sandals and rose gold sunglasses.

Weather aside, layering has been a huge trend this fall. It is a perfect way to give some of your old styles a new look—which is something every Fashionista loves! Who says you have to stop wearing your favorite sun dress once autumn starts? Just throw on some cute layers to give yourself an entirely new look that is perfect for the fall. Layering is a simple and effortless way to create new and original looks that are individualized for your specific style.

So, whether you’re going to rock a concert T-shirt and a flannel, or a simple dress over a long sleeve T-shirt—remember, layers are key to the perfect fall style!
