BEAUTY BAR: Flaunt Your Contour

As the days grow shorter and the summer tans fade away, I am constantly reaching for the bronzer, thinking to myself, “Will this give me that sun-kissed glow, or will I just look like an Oompa Loompa straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?” You know, typical questions in the life of a Fashionista! I fawn over those who can maintain the “glow” amidst the colder months, and that is exactly what this Fashionista has accomplished with her fabulous contouring expertise.

Contouring is a hit or miss process. There are only so many YouTube videos you can watch that promise the perfect contouring tutorial, but actually attempting to go through the process is something completely different…and sometimes scary. After talking to this Fashionista, the number one thing I can emphasize is process of application and the products used are key to contour success.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Here is your step by step guide to the perfect contour. Starting with a face primer and foundation on, grab your concealer, it is recommended to use a color that is about two shades lighter than your skin tone to give you a nice highlight effect. To apply, put it on in an upside down triangle under the eyes, middle of the forehead, down the bridge of the nose, a bit on the cupid’s bow, and the middle of the chin. Next, take a damp beauty blender and blend everything out. After, take a mid-size tapered brush and use powder to set the concealer. Get excited, this is when the contouring begins! First, use a contour kit and use the darkest color from the hairline, down the cheekbone to about where your cheekbone lines up with the middle of your eyebrow. You can also contour down the sides of the nose and around the hairline on the forehead. To highlight, take a small fan brush and use a hi-lighting product on the tops of the cheekbones and lightly brush it on. For added effect, you can always apply a darker contour or more hi-light. Follow these steps and you’ll looked kissed by the sun all fall!
