ALL IN THE DETAILS: Trinkets of Transitioning Temperatures

Going to school in a warmer state makes dressing for winter difficult. It may be 50 degrees when you wake up, but 80 degrees by the time you leave your afternoon classes. After walking around campus, I saw that my fellow students were handling it well, but one outfit stood out to me in particular.

What first caught my eye about this outfit was the silver snake skin sneakers because they were shining in the sunlight as we were walking across campus. Then I saw her whole outfit, which had a definite athleisure vibe, but I found it was the details that held it together, proving to be practical and elevating her style.

She had started with her metallic sneakers, basic leggings, and an oversize T-shirt and then she paired that with a few layers. Her first layer was a Ralph Lauren denim button-down, and on top of that she layered a pastel pink Lacoste bomber. Layering is key in a rapidly changing climate. Layering alleviates being uncomfortable in varying temperatures as well as the necessary wardrobe change.

The accessories on top of what she was wearing held the piece together and were definite aids in the fluctuating weather. She was wearing a tan leather backpack with an on-trend faux fur pom-pom. She was carrying a pastel blue water bottle with a witty, inspiring phrase to stay hydrated and had headphones around her neck to block the noise of anyone complaining about the weather. Once you have already layered your clothes, you can never go wrong layering on the accessories.

If I hadn’t been seen the details of the outfit, I may have subconsciously labeled it as another athleisure outfit, but this was an outfit that was really made up of the details. Her accessories proved to be Florida-proof as well as being cute. Plus, the combination of colors created a neutral collage with a pop of pastels and metallic paired with the weather already has me excited for spring!
