ALL IN THE DETAILS: Sweet Sneaks

When I first got to college, I think I somehow missed the unsaid rule that one must wear athletic shorts and an oversized T-shirt to class…EVERY SINGLE DAY. Personally, this style does not fit my average 12-year-old-sized body and let’s be real—it’s not flattering on anyone. Although I have to be honest, it has become extremely difficult to want to give into this collegiate uniform only because of how comfortable workout wear can be. All Fashionistas can now rejoice! Although it is still not acceptable to have your T-shirt significantly longer than your shorts, a little bit of active wear inspiration in your ensemble is stylish.

The most exciting part of this trend for me is that sneakers are chic. Let me say that again; the fashion community now accepts the most comfortable shoe in the world. I’m feeling a mix of emotions of the feeling you get on Christmas morning and the last day of classes before summer. Sneakers are very “in” right now. Now that these shoes have become a part of every Fashionista’s closet, brands have started upping their sneaker designs. From adidas and Nike to New Balance, all of these classic athletic footwear companies are becoming fashionable. This Fashionista is sporting (see what I did there) an amazing pair of New Balance sneakers. The teal color of the shoe along with the rose gold metallic accents make these a pair of shoes that could rival any heel in my book. Her shoes not only stand out, but they are extremely comfortable. Why walk around campus all day in a pair of shoes that give you blisters when you know you have 20 minutes to make it all the way to the other end of campus for your next class? A pair of sneakers—especially a fashionable pair of sneakers—will make getting to and from the farthest parts of campus easy.

This Fashionista completes her ensemble with a gray striped T-shirt, black jeans, oversized glasses, a colorful backpack and awesome tattoos. Even though her whole look is great, I immediately looked to those sweet sneakers.

How To: Tired of having your feet ache from a day of walking in those uncomfortable shoes? They may look great, but sneakers can look just as good. Look for a unique pair of sneakers, and you will look just as fashionable in a pair of sensible kicks.
