ALL IN THE DETAILS: Rebel Without a Cause

One of my favorite decades of men’s fashion has always been the 1950s. The classic silhouettes and bad boy, James Dean vibes that are still imitated today are enough to make any woman swoon. Over the past months, we have seen a resurgence in designers bringing back the ’50s vibes to their collections. The bomber jacket has seen new light as the perfect trans-seasonal piece that is not only gender neutral, but is simple enough to establish its status as a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. The surge of minimalism in menswear has created a fresh approach for men to dress themselves in original and creative ways; it allows them to create tons of different combinations while only having a few pieces in their closet.

This Fashionisto knows a thing or two about dressing himself as seen from his simple, yet classic outfit. His navy blue bomber jacket was what first caught my eye, especially when catching a glimpse of its bright orange lining. However, even without the jacket, the simple white T-shirt and light blue button-up shirt are perfect for a spring day. It can even be transitioned easily from class to a lunch with friends. The fact that the layers are all of varying textures adds a nice visual touch. Sticking to the ’50s vibes, he has his jeans cuffed at the ankles just enough to show off his olive green ASICS Gel-Lyte III running shoes. I love that he was able to incorporate the orange of the jacket lining with the orange on his sneakers.

Of course, the finishing touch on his outfit isn’t even a piece of clothing or accessory! But rather, it’s his man bun, the hairstyle that has quickly taken over the heads of men and the hearts of women everywhere. The addition of the man bun and the modern sneakers take this ’50s greaser concept to the cool, contemporary look we see here.

How To: To achieve this look, all you really need are a few simple pieces. Find some great fitting jeans and layer up! In order to take things to the next level, add some interesting accessories like a watch, sunglasses or some fun sneakers.
