It’s intern season here in NYC, and that means it is the absolute best time for a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista. As I aimlessly walk down the street, I cannot help but be in awe of the amazingly creative twists NYC Fashionistas put on the daunting task of dressing “business professional.” Add bad weather into the mix, and the term seems even more terrifying!
However, the fashionably fearless and courageous trudge on, and this Fashionista is no exception. Her response to the dress code and weather problems could not be more on par, and it is all because of her simple, but spectacular trousers. Not only do her pants mark the perfect blend between business professional and personal expression, but they scream spring.
It is no secret that pastels are the key to any spring wardrobe color palette. Like this Fashionista, pair a plain button-down top with some eye-popping pastel trousers, a cool, irregularly-shaped necklace and some rockin’ oxfords, and you’ll be good to go for any kind of weather. To switch it up a bit, wear a patterned trouser with a lacey top; your fellow interns will be jealous that they have not thought of this form of “business professional” first, while your supervisors will be singing your praises.
How To: A bit too cold and rainy to wear a dress, but still have to meet the dress code? Don’t fret! Simple, colorful and beautifully tailored trousers are the way to go! A little bigger at the waist to give you curves and tapered at the ankles, high-waisted pastel trousers will exude a soft, feminine feel while giving you a great silhouette! Pair the trousers with a plain top and some awesome accessories, and you’ll be sure to wow your boss and all of your colleagues in the process.
