ALL IN THE DETAILS: Crazy In Color

Color? Did I just say color?

Well, yes—yes I did! If you’ve been following my CollegeFashionista posts or my Instagram for some time, you know I’m all about white, black and gray. Color is not really my thing because I have trouble styling it for my body and style. But when I saw this Fashionista I was literally in awe with how chic she styled not only a sequence dress but a rainbow colored dress!

This Fashionista cooled down the craziness by throwing on a smooth leather jacket. One of my favorite things about fall (or simply anytime of the year) is leather jackets. One can throw a leather jacket onto almost anything and it adds a bit of edge and spice to his/her ensemble. This leather jacket in particular has minimal detailing which makes it classic and allows us to still focus on the dress. The draping on the shoulders instead of the traditional way of wearing a jacket is perfect and has been super trendy recently.

Moving on to the dress, like I mentioned before, its fantastic! This Fashionista told me she got it at this vintage shop in Houston, Texas called Cheeky Vintage (must go there)!  One thing I’m loving about this dress in particular is the high collar. I’ve been seeing this high-collar cut a lot recently for the fall and it fits this Fashionista like a gem!

Now to the accessories! Intentionally or unintentionally, the gold metal accents on the jacket, go together nicely with a couple colors on the dress and the metal detailing on the Chanel bag. I like when pieces of an outfit go well together but don’t look too matchy and this Fashionista does a great job conquering that combo. She went on to mix metals when it came to jewelry. Like this Fashionista, I’ve started mixing metals this past summer and I’m so into it, I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to wearing a single colored metal. A little rebelling is good sometimes so don’t be afraid to break some fashion rules or faux pas!

This Fashionista’s shades are to die for as well! I’m loving the tortoise shell detailing mixed with some shiny silver and the perfect lens reflection. This sunglass shape has also been very popular this summer and as we enter the fall. Brands from Spitfire to Dior and everything in-between are creating there own rendition of these shades which is perfect for college students because you can be on trend even when you’re on a budget!

As we can see, this Fashionista effortlessly mixed and matched current trends to create this look and topped off this whole outfit by casually rocking some white adidas sneakers (comfort is always key) and sporting an intricate and super sleek hair style!

How To: Have you always been afraid to rock bright colors? Don’t worry, so am I; however, this Fashionista taught me the way to do it! Pick an item you want to be filled with color, like her dress, and stick to it. Keeping the rest of the outfit simple and neutral allows you to still be edgy and chic. Oh and don’t forget to just have fun!
