WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

Summer is usually the time to celebrate one’s freedom from the confines of a classroom and really embrace a carefree attitude on life. It’s for enjoying fun times with friends, catching sun rays and making as many memories as possible. This summer, however, is a little different. It has all the same attributes except for one thing—the weather.

Philly weather is often unpredictable, and what this Fashionista does so well is pair adaptation with style. As college students, we know how vital a good weekend out is to survival, whether it’s a day on the beach, a stroll around campus or even an impromptu laser tag date; we all need that time to relax and decompress. This Fashionista caught my eye because she is dressed for just about any weather and occasion. By pairing a crop top with the super trendy flannel, she gets the option of staying cool in the heat by taking off the outer shirt or keeping it on and staying warm in an indoor setting. Her chunky heels provide the perfect amount of spice to kick this outfit up a notch from everyday wear to a chic outfit. I personally favor smaller accessories to balance out a big statement piece, and she displays the perfect example of this with her subtle accent necklaces.

This outfit is so great because all-black with a pop of color is an easy way to add versatility to your wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down and provides a simple way to draw attention to a specific part of the body, piece of jewelry, etc. Wearing the flannel with this outfit helps to make it look casual and easy even though she is wearing heels too.

Dynamic weekend wear is the key to a good time and layers never go out of style. If you come dressed with the knowledge that anything could happen, I guarantee a style mishap is not in your future.

One Simple Change: Take this outfit from day to night by losing the flannel and replacing the pants with a mid-calf form fitting skirt.
