WHAT TO WEAR: Tailgating

October 28th, 2015 at 2:00am

It seems like it’s been quite a while since the students of University of Kentucky have been truly excited about a football game. Don’t get me wrong—we all love an excuse to spend time with our friends and have a little fun on Cat-urdays. However, the past general consensus seems to be that the focus is on the activities that happen prior to the game, not the actual event. However, that trend appears to be slowly changing. After a couple of exciting wins, us Wildcats have found yet another sport to be excited about, and excited we are. Though, while the game itself may be garnering a bit more attention than before, everyone knows that the best part will always be the fun had at tailgaiting.

Getting dressed to hang out in a parking lot seems like it would be a simple task—throw on whatever you can find in your team’s colors and you’re good to go. Yet, like everything else in the SEC, we like to take getting dressed to another level. While girls at UK have a bit of a uniform—blue dresses and cowgirl boots—guys may find it a little bit harder to decide what to wear, especially when the weather becomes more and more unpredictable. Thankfully, this Fashionisto demonstrates the perfect way to dress for guys when getting ready for a big win and even bigger fun.

Sporting a checked button-down, navy blue pants and a pair of loafers, his ensemble is the epitome of tailgate outfits. Since tailgates in the south call for nicer clothing, men tend to dress up a bit more than they would every other day. Yet, spending hours out in the sun surrounded by people requires something a little more comfortable. With a casual, but nice button-down and pants combination, he ensures that his outfit has staying power while still looking like a southern gentleman. His brown leather loafers add a bit of style to the mix while adding a final element of comfort.

While everyone wants to look their best on Cat-urday at Commonwealth Stadium, sometimes getting dressed for the event is easier said than done. This Fashionisto proves, however, that it doesn’t have to be difficult by any means. Simply pick out a nice button-down and a coordinating pair of pants, and throw on a pair of stylishly comfortable shoes to finish the look. You’ll be warm, happy and ready to win—all while being able to have a little fun.

One Simple Change: Spending the weekend with parents? Take this look to an evening out at a nice restaurant with a simple sweater for added style and some much needed warmth.
