WHAT TO WEAR: Meet the Parents

So you and your new beau are finally getting comfy and cozy, and things are starting to get serious. One day you both decide it’s about that time to meet his parents. This is obviously pretty nerve-wracking for you, hoping they’ll applaud all of your good qualities and look past your obvious shopping addiction and slight obsession with precious little #PugsOfInstgram. But honestly, I think this is a lot scarier when it’s the other way around. Guys undergo a lot more pressure when meeting the parents because every little girl has that macho dad that will “kill any boy that breaks her heart.” But, if you’re still nervous, there’s nothing more valid than the statement, “look good, feel good.” And if your outfit is on point, you are too.

When dressing for the parents, of course you should look modest and put together, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your personal style to please them. All I’m saying is I probably wouldn’t wear a crop top with half your stomach exposed. If you stay away from that you should be in the clear. This Fashionista is a prime example of what to wear for this possibly uneasy occasion.

In this look, her hair is kept quite casual and makeup is minimal. She chose a feminine off-white colored lace dress and paired it with turquoise sandals and a turquoise statement necklace. This color pops beautifully against the light colored dress. She carries a black scalloped kate spade cross-body bag, which keeps the focus on the pop of color.

One Simple Change: So immediately after your brunch with the parents you have to rush to your internship. This is no problem at all. What you have to do is switch out the sandals for a more work friendly shoe like a nude pair of ballet flats or low heels.
